Hey all you Carrier Cousins!
I joined about a month ago, but have been reading the e-mails from everyone.
Still not through all of them. I am Louise Carrier Sheatz, I descend from
Thomas & Martha, Thomas & Susannah Johnson, Thomas & Mary Peters, Thomas &
Mary
Watrous, Thomas V. & Hannah Bancroft Dickinson, Darius & Eliza Hetrick, John
&
Sarah Baird, John Elmer & Mary Alice Gearhart, David Elmer & Clara Emma Reem,
then me.
I am actually lookng for anyone in my line. Also, the Michigan Carriers. My
Great-Grandfather John ( b. 1834 in PA d. 1914) went to Michigan, probably
looking for timber. He & 4 of his brothers had timber & quite a bit of money
(alas, none left for me or mne), They last settled in Troy (now Summerville, PA)
At one time John & a man named Bond had a lumber business on the Allegheny River
in Sharpsburg, PA, above Pittsburgh. I have him in the 1870 census in Jefferson
Co., PA & he isn't with his wife in 1880 census. 1900 census, she is divorced.
So John must have gone to Michigan between 1870 & 1900. While there, he had a
son Edward, I am told John was married in Michigan. Any one in Michigan know
of an Edward Carrier whose father, John was born in PA?
