Neal- I have notes from Helyn Carrier indicating ( thru my great
grandmother, Minnie Carrier) that Isaac Carrier 1744-1806 was a Green
Mountain Boy during the Revolutionary War. He is descended from Thomas

Nicole,
Strange thing, I scanned thru Helynn Carriers book and she doesn't show ANY
Carriers in Vermont, Maine, or New Hampshire. George Mays book has a couple
of Carriers showing up in Vermont.
Must be our ancestors compasses only showed West or South.

Like I said, I'm not sure that they were even Carrier cousins. Remember
that
the Brainard family married in to my Carrier line, and while not related by
blood, he may have been visiting them in Vermont. The Brainard who married
in owned marble quarries in Vermont and Illinois, so it stands to reason...

The answer was that they were just way more prolific (They could definitely
afford the headstones). Most of my Carriers in the last 5 generations are in
the Union Hill Cemetery. It just seems odd to me that you would say you are
going to visit a cousin when that person isn't really your cousin. Who
knows.

At the Godfrey's Cemeteries of Middlesex County, Connecticut I browsed
through all the cemeteries and noticed that the Brainard/Brainerd name was
listed much more than Carrier. Either they were more prolific or could
afford more cemetery stones than the Carrier's.
Also if you look at www.findagrave.com and search for all Carrier's buried
in Vermont most are from the 20th century so it's probably a Brainard cousin
he went to visit.

Hi Steve,
They're quite large so I'll upload them tomorrow and send you a link to
them.
Do you have Henries ancestry? Just curious as to how he fits into the
family tree.

When I first began researching the Carriers on my mom's side, I was
convinced that there was a connection to family in Vermont. In talking to
my
mom the other day about it, she is still convinced. She said her dad
routinely visited cousins in Vermont, and they had very "traditional" old
New England names like Hepzibah, etc... still not sure where that
connection
is, and if it is even a Carrier connection.

Cemeteries of Middlesex County, Connecticut
from Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter by Dick Eastman
The Godfrey Memorial Library has an online database created from
Edward S. Laput's monumental effort of photographs of headstones with
inscriptions of over 100 cemeteries with over 130,000 burial records
in Middlesex County, Connecticut. Best of all, the online database is
available free of charge. The database will grow some more in the
future, thanks to Ed Laput and the volunteers assisting him.
The online database contains all of the cemeteries in Middlesex County
completed to this date. The database will remain open to the general
public through the end of 2010 by virtue of a grant from the Middlesex
County Community Foundation/Connecticut Humanities Council Fund.
Perhaps the database has been online for some time. I'm not certain. I
only saw it for the first time today after Harvey Hilton told me about
it.
You can find the Middlesex County Cemetery Databases, complete with
pictures, on the Godfrey Memorial Library website until the end of
2010 at http://www.godfrey.org/cemetery_records/freecem.htm

Jean, that story is a scam that's been around the internet several times.
It's also used on the phone against senior citizens, some one calls grandma
and claims to be a nephew/ cousin/ grand child etc
and want's money. And London seems to be the location the story is from.
Hope you didn't send your "nephew in law" any $$$$$$$
