OK, time to wake up the list.
We've had some new members join us since Christmas and it would be a good
time to have a roll call to introduce ourselves to each other.
Would everyone post a note as to who they're researching, where, time frames,
where you live and any brick walls in your research.
It would help if you'd change the subject line to show which Carrier line or
location you're researching.
I'm Neal Carrier, head warlock of the Carrier list and I live in Floyd,

I just took a brief glance at some of the links at this site and found some
Carrier data. Looks like it's just started up so would be worth keeping an
eye on.

Subject: [CTMID] Middlesex marriages in Colchester, New London Co, CT

From: janedevlin(a)ameritech.net

While looking for more of our "wanderers" I came across a partial listing of
Colchester marriages from the Bailey books at.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ctccolch/
As far as I can tell from the format, the town is the place from which the
non- Colchester member of the marriage came. There are a lot of East Haddam
marriages listed plus a few from Chatham & Middletown. In that they are
already arranged and easy to find, I didn't re-transcribe them.

These are taken from the Barbour records for the town which are on line at
the Douglas Library. As is the case with the Barbour records, there are two
listings for each marriage - one under the groom's name and the other under
the bride's. I tried to transcribe both:
>>>snip
Hannah CARRIER, of East Haddam, m. Daniel JONES, of Hebron, 22 Mar
1763
>>snip again
Daniel JONES, of Hebron, m. Hannah CARRIER, of East Haddam, 22 Mar 1763

It is wonderful to join a Carrier list. This has been a fun line for me. I
hesitated starting this line because there is no oral information. I had to
start from scratch with only my grandfathers name, but the research has been
moving along nicely.
Geographically I started the line in Rochester, NY. From there i moved my
research to Lockport NY. I flew there (I live in South Carolina) last
summer and found some great info. Right now I am on Jeremiah Carrier (1800
- 1895) m. Dorothy A. Their children are John (my line), Charles and
Matilda. Jeremiah died in Lockport and his death certificate says he was
born in Otsego, NY (not far from Cooperstown) and his parents are John and
Abigail both born in Mass. That is where I am at.
Usually I do as much research as I can via internet and then snail mail
before making a long journey but nothing beats on-site research. If anyone
needs help with South Carolina research I will do the best I can for you. I
live in Columbia, SC and have access to our local paper back to 1892. There
is even a little bit of indexing for some years!

I have an Elizabeth Reams that was married to Henry Doan. I'm not sure who
her parents are. Can someone tell me who Henry Doan's parents are, I seem
to have a mix up between Henry Doan s/o James Doan and William Henry Doan
s/o Joseph Doan and Mary Tudor. I'm not sure which Henry Elizabeth Reams is
married to.
Thanks,
Deronda

Hi Group,
My name is Joseph Gabriel Carrier, Jr. Naturally my dad was JGC
Sr. My dad grew up in North Bergen and Little Ferry, New Jersey USA. My
grandfather was Joseph Pierre Carrier and he was born in Weehawken, NJ I
believe it was November 15, 1898. I am not sure what "Carrier" family line
I should be searching. If anyone has any information I would be happy to
hear it. I am not even sure how to start my quest. Thank you in advance for
your help.
