I saw your message about Sally Carrico & Isaac Moore. I am not related to this family
but I do have a page taken from a book pertaining to Sally's sister Nancy who
married a William Hanks. Nothing else on her. It does have her sister Sally married to a
Isaac Moore. If you need any information on the Carrico name, I suggest you go to the
library and find a book "Genealogies of Ky. Families. It was on page 217. My husband
had written "The Filson? Clue History Quarterly"? I believe it has the history
of all of the Carrico's. Most all their migration was through Kentucky. They spelled
their name as Carico, Caricoe, Carricoe, Carracho,Calico, Callico and Cerico. They noted
it was regrettable that so many blanks appear in the genealogical data of the Carrico
family here presented. This was taken from the library and the book is probably old but
the author who furnished the work was Colonel Homer E. Carrico, AUS Ret; 6703 Country Club
Circle, Dallas 14, Texas These above mentione!
d were children of William O'Nan and Mary Ann Carrico. She was the daughter of Abel
& Elizabeth (Simms) Carrico. Mary Ann born July 4, 1757 married William O'Nan
(1754-1825) in 1777, son of James O'Nan of Culpeper cty.Va. She died about 1830 in
Henry County, Ky. For a time they lived in Greenbrier Cty.Va. where their first son,
Dennis, was born, September 25, 1778. In 1793 Wm & Mary together with six children
moved to Kentucky in that portion of Jefferson County which later became Henry County,
they settled permanently and spent the rest of their lives. Ch: Dennis, Ann; Clempson;;
Thomas; William; Mary; Peter; & James. Then it starts directly below a little to
the left ( 2-4). Nancy married Wm Hanks. (2-5) Simeon (2-6) Sally married Isaac Moore.
(:2-7) Peter and (:2-8) Joseph. which are Carrico's and not O'Nans. Yes, that is
correct because Abel and Elizabeth Simms Carrico who was a prominent Mathodist Minister
left his home in Fairfax Cty,Va and went to N.C. where!
he married Jane Taylor. He later moved to Galax where he lived until his death, about
1805. Rev Wm was (:2-1) Abel (2-2) and Mary Ann was (2-3). Abel Sr.'s date of birth
is not known. He married Elizabeth, d/o of Marmaduke Simms c1730 in Charles Cty. Md.
Tradition says he was a French Hugenot. In 1785 he was in Fairfax Cty.Va. as the head of
the family of nine "white souls". He died c1790 while visiting his son
Wm.Carrico at Galax, Grayson County, Virginia and is buried there. I know this is
probably confusing as I had no intentin of writing this complete family but I couldn't
find a place to leave off and so I went backward. Oh, Abel Carrico, Jr. married Ann Kent,
d/o of Benoni and Jean Kent, in Fairfax County,Va. Several children were born to them.
