Thomas E. Carrico
Thomas E. "Tom" Carrico, 73, of Speedwell died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at
Waddell Nursing Home in Galax.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 6, at 8 p.m. at Reins-Sturdivant
Funeral Home Chapel in Independence. A graveside service will be held
Thursday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Friends Meeting Church Cemetery
in Fries.
He was born June 6, 1935, in Fries, son of the late James Harvey and Ethel
Rose Anders Carrico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jean Carrico.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Anne Hyatt of Ivanhoe; a son and
daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa Carrico of Wytheville; a son-in-law, Todd
Hyatt of Ivanhoe; two brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Joe and Freda
Carrico of Galax, R.D. "Dick" and Frankee Carrico of Woodlawn; five sisters
and three brothers-in-law, Pat and Vernon Bedwell of Galax, Martha McGregor
of Pueblo, Colo., Alice and Dan Christensen of Suring, Wis., Rosie and Mike
Aker of Wytheville and Jane Moore of Fries; four granddaughters, Cathy,
Grace, Lacey and Lindsey; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. (service
time) at the funeral home or any time at the residence of Michael and Lisa
Carrico, 742 Painter Hill Road in Ivanhoe. Flowers will be appreciated or
memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice. Reins-Sturdivant
Funeral Home in Independence is in charge of the arrangements.
