My grandmother was Violet Carrico, the daughter of Frances M Carrico who was born in
Prince William Co. Violet was born in Prince William, but her brother was born in
Alexandria Va. Violet moved to Alexandria when she was 3 years old. Frances was the son of
John W Carrico of PWC. JW did move to Fauquier, but he moved back to PWC by 1890 when my
grandmother was born. It is interesting to know the direct connection to Peter Carrico the
immigrant. It seems locally accurate that Peter's grandson Abel may have moved through
PWC en route to Grayson Co Va. During this time there were river ferries at this point on
the Potomac River moving back and forth between Charles County Md, and Va. It seems
logical to me that he took this route. If they had taken a land route, it would have been
more probable they would have taken a route that would have landed them in W. Va and
Ohio, rather than a more southern area like Grayson Co. Va. Some Carrico's may have
gone this route, explaining the!
disbursement of the family. Also I find it likely that William Carrico the preacher
might have named his son John Wesley, in recognition of the famous preacher. Maybe the PWC
library may have some geneology records that could answer some of these questions.
