Well known Farmer of Milo Township Passes Away (Front page)
James Carrico, a well known farmer of Milo Township, passed away at his home on Friday
after an illness of several weeks, during which time everything that medical skill and
loving and tender hands could do, was done to prolong his life. All proved to no avail,
however, and he passed into that world
from which no traveler ever returns.
James Carrico was the son of the late John and Mary Queen Burch Carrico, and was born in
Martin County, Indiana, on Sept. 23, 1865, and died at his home June 19, 1925. At the age
of 15 years, he came to Illinois with his mother and brother, both of whom are now
deceased. After the death of his mother he made his home with his sister, Mrs. H. B.
Blaisdell. On Jan. 27, 1886, he was united in marriage to Miss Lydia A. Blaisdell,
daughter of the late Horace Blaisdell, and to this union ten children were born. One
daughter, Mary, passed away when 18 years old, the other nine surviving.
Mr. Carrico was ever a hard worker, industrious, honest and honorable citizen. He made
his living by the sweat of his brow, and while never possessing a great deal of worldly
goods, possessed that which every man desires, the respect of his neighbors. For twenty
years he was a members of Boyd's Grove M.E. Church, living up to the teachings of his
Divine Master in the way he though best. he was at one time Superintendent of the Sunday
School of that church.
He was also honored by his fellowmen, being a member of the school trustees for several
years. Mr. Carrico was also a member of the M.W.A. He leaves, besides his bereaved wife,
nine children as follows: W.R. Carrico, Keitsburg, Ill.; Mrs. H. S. Bradley, Montpelier,
N.D.; Mrs. Elmer Norris, Tiskilwa; Mrs Ray Trotter, Sheffield; Mrs. Alice Barker, Milo,
Ill; and Alden, Mildred, Opal and Violet, at home. These with 21 grandchildren and hosts
of relatives and friends are left to mourn his death. The funeral was held Sunday
afternoon at the Boyd's Grove M.E. Church. Rev. T.W. Thompson being in charge.
Burial was in the Mount Cemetery close by.
