states she found reference to Bartholomew Carrico's Tavern in Charles Co. in
a 1795 newspaper.
This seems to be the last I've found of THIS Bartholomew/Barton. Homer Edwin
Carrico (The Carrico Family 1951 Filson Club Quarterly) refers to a
Bartholomew of Allegheny MD signing Power of Attorney to Levi Carrico in
1813 regarding settlement of the estate of Thomas Ignatius Carrico in Nelson
Co., KY. But, A) only a spouse or descendant of Thomas I would have rights
to his estate & B) the Barton Carrico in Allegheny Co., MD in 1810 was age
26-44, therefore born 1766 or later. I have included this Barton Carrico as
a son of Thomas Ignatius Carrico.
Homer Carrico also mentions a deed in 1823 where a Kitty Carrico signed a
deed as widow of Bartholomew Carrico. Thomas Ignatius Carrico's son Joseph
Carrico had married Amelia Butler d/o Joseph Butler in Washington Co., MD in
1804. Amelia's sister Fanny Butler's will was probated 1822 in Hamilton Co.,
OH and mentions sisters Amelia Carrico & Kitty Carrico. It seems more likely
that the Kitty Carrico was the widow of Thomas Ignatius' son Bartholomew,
not Bartholomew of Peter.
1820 Census in Shelby Co. KY lists Katharine Carrico pg 124 with males: 1
10/16; 2 0/10. Females: 1 over 45; 1 26/45; 1 16/26; 2 10/16. Next door is
Bazel Carrico & Thomas Carrico. On pg 21 is Vincent Carrico, Amelia Carrico
& Benjamin Kerrick. See

for more details.
I live here in Hamilton Co., & hope soon to obtain copies of the Butler
will. I'm very familiar with Hamilton Co. records & hate to say that there
is little chance of finding much more that the recorded copy of the will due
to several court house fires in the 1800's.
I have come upon no evidence that Bartholomew of Peter went to KY, but we do
have perhaps as many as 5 sons & 6 daughters of Bartholomew that need to be
accounted for. I fear that Homer Edwin Carrico may have placed individuals
as sons of Bartholomew because he did know where else to put them! It is
possible that some joined their cousins in the westward migration, but until
we have something to tell us who they were............
More coming,
