Peter, son of Peter, named land that he owned "Carrico Hope". This land was
located in Bryan Town Hundred, Charles Co., Maryland. Peter willed the land to
his 2nd wife Margaret and upon her death, to his son James.
John Carrico wrote: This is contrary to the belief of many Carrico
Genealogists, but based on the fact on the way the will was written giving Margaret,
then John, Thomas Ignatius and Bartholomew the plantation 'Maidstone', which was
his first wife Ann's inheritage from her father. This will is dated April 14,
1764 and was proved Oct, 18, 1765.

Edwin Carico of Dallas TX page 222. Peter left a will signed April 14, 1765,
which was probated in Charles Co, October 18, 1765. In this will are named his
wife, Margaret, and five sons, who according to family history were born to
this second marriage. It was customary in colonial wills to name children in
the order of their birth. An approximation of the birth dates of these sons has
been arrived at, based on this custom and the birth date of Thomas Ignatius,
the second son, given as 1741 in the Census of 1776 of Prince George Co, MD,
which gave the ages of both him and his wife, Elizabeth, as 35 years.

son of Peter and Margaret (Gates), was born about 1747 in Bryantown Hundred,
Charles County, Maryland. He was married about 1768, probably in Montgomery
Coiunty, Maryland, but the most intensive research has failed to disclose the
name of his wife. He emigrated to Kentucky between the years 1794 and 1806 as he
disposed of property in Washington County, Kentucky, and is shown on tax
rolls of Shelby County, Kentucky, between these two dates.

SOURCE-DEED:
Data from Virgie Shannon Johnson <shannon(a)searnet.com> June 1997.
On April 5 1813, Thomas Ignatikus was joined by his wife, Elizabeth, and
"interested heirs' in signing a deed which is recorded in the Nelson County,
Kentucky Deed Book 12, page 499. One signature on the deed is that of Bartholomew
Carrico, brother of Thomas Ignatius, with the notation on the deed, after the
signature, reading "residing in Maryland." appended under the authority of
power-of-attorney signed by "Barton" Carrico, dated January 8, 1813 in Allegheny
County, Maryland, authorizing Levi Carrico of Jefferson County, Kentucky to
dispose of his (Barton's) interest in the estate of Thomas Ignatius Carrico.
This power of attorney is recorded in the office of the county clerk of Nelson
County, Kentucky. Those signing this deed were: Joseph and Amelia Carrico;
Vincent and Mary Carrico; Leve and Harriett Carrico; James and Elizabeth Carrico;
Mary (Carrico) and Benjamin H. Kerrick (her husband); Priscilla (Carrico) and
James Luckett, her husband; and Bartholomew . This would indicate that
Bartholomew migrated to Kentucky sometime after the year 1813. Bartholomew was the
brother of Thomas Ignatius CARRICO. Thomas Ignatius evidently died intestate
in Nelson County, Kentucky. The will books of Nelson County do not contain any
record of a will, but Will Book "C" on pages 235-237 does give the details of
a sale of his effects. The estate amounted to approximated six thousand
dollars, of which Elizabeth, the widow, received $1652.00 and several other heirs re
ceived $751.00 each. At the sale purchases were made by Levi, Vincent,
Joseph, Basiz (Bazzil) brother of Thomas Ignatius, James, Elizabeth and Eliza
Carrico. Other purchasers included James Luckett and Benjamin Kerrick.

Betty, I can't correct your work as I do not have all the information that
you have. The information I did post is not in order but it is typed with the
information that I have. I am not related to the Carricos so I don't know if you
are correct or not. If you go to the library you will see much information on
the Carricos. There is a partial article on Peter at the bottom of the page
but I am only interested in William Hanks. The info on Peter that I so have
continues on to another page which I did not take a copy. Peter Carrico, Sr. (:
-1765), place of birth unknown; died at Bryantown Hunded, Charles County,
Md. He married first in 1720 in Charles Cty. Ann Gates (:7-23-1690:circa
1737) the d/o Robert and Dorothy Gates of St Marys County, Md. Born to this
marriage of Peter Carrico, Sr. and Ann (:Gates) Carrico were: (2-1) Peter
Carrico, Jr. born about 1722 in Charles Cty. Md. He was living in Benedict Hundred,
Charles County, and it leaves off there. Abel & Peter were brothers.
That is all I have. Sorry. Ann
