James who married Joanna Keith was the "James son of John". Therefore, he
was not a son of Peter & Elizabeth Clements!
We actually had 2 early John Carrico's, John named in Peter II's will in
1764 and that listed on the 1758 tax list as "son of James".
You can view the transcription from the Charles Co MDGenweb archives here:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/md/charles/#Charles%20Co.%20File%20Arch...
but it lists:
TU 10 1 Carico Peter 2
TU 2 [Carico] "one son"
TU 38 1 Carico James 1
TU 45 1 Carico John 1 "son of James"
Besides a John married to a Monica as named in Elizabeth Hagan's 1758 will
(also online at the Charles Co archives), there was also a John married to
an Ann per the following:
Maryland Probate Records, 1674-1774
Prerogative Court Abstracts, 1760-1763, Abstracts 1760-1763, Page 61
Charles Doonaho 78.12 CH L19.1.9 Mar 23 1762 Jun 8 1762
Appraisers: Elisha Harbin, William Dement.
Creditors: William Poston, Smith Middleton.
Next of kin: John Carico, Ann Carico.
Administratrix: Elizabeth Doonaho
And no, this isn't John Martin Carrico s/o James of Peter. I believe Homer
Edwin Carrico in his "The Carrico Family" suggested that John Martin married
Ann Donaho, but he wasn't probably even thought of in 1763!
So, we have 2 John Carrico's it appears, John son of James in 1758 was
certainly the elder of the 2. One married Ann, the other married Monica, or
are Ann & Monica the same person, or I guess I 3rd option is Ann died & the
same John married Monica.
In 1776 & 1783 there was a John Carrico in Washington Co., MD. Thomas
Ignatius & brother Basil were in Washington Co., by the 1790 census, but
John has disappeared. Is he dead? Did he go to KY?
A John on the tax list in 1800 Nelson Co. KY.
I spent a few hours at the Kenton Co., KY library this afternoon. I copied
several wills from "Will's of Washington County Kentucky (1792-1851) by
Annie Walker Burns Bell. This includes James Carrico's will proved 1815.
Will try to get these transcribed & posted to the Carrico board over the
next few days.
I still think a lot of work needs to be done on all of these Carrico's to
try to straighten them out. I would hope if anyone has any primary source
records they would post them to the Carrico board & perhaps in time the
puzzle pieces will fall where they should.
