Roy,
Where did you get your info on Sarah? How is it that you know "there is a
tradition" that her maiden name was Carrico?
I know that the name Carrico was given to her in the book about cemeteries
in Tucker County. I can't remember the name of the book right this minute.
It says that she and her husband, Jacob Kalar, are buried in the little St.
George plot just off a certain state highway. Anyway, we found it when we
were there 2 summers ago. There were no headstones for them so there was no
way to know if they are there or not.
Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated (and the other
Kalar kin who are looking for her).
Thanks,
Beth

Beth,
Sarah Kalar was born Nov 21, 1775 and died May 25, 1820. There is a
tradition that her maiden name was Carrico. If so, she may have POSSIBLY
been the daughter of Peter Carrico (III) as his family was identified
with the Preston-Tucker Co WV area.
The death record of Peter's daughter Verlinda Wotring (1777-1857) gives
her parents as Peter & Catharine Carrico while the death record of
Peter's son Joseph Carrico (1792-1868) gives his parents as Peter &
Elizabeth Carrico. The earlier death record may be more reliable as
Peter's wife Catherine survived him.
