Emeline BROWN (d/o Elizabeth BROWN) age 18 (b c 1842) m. on 15 Jun 1860 to George OWENS, I
don't find a marriage of Emeline OWENS to a WILEY in Grayson Co., Virginia or
Alleghany Co., North Carolina., nor can I find a marriage for a James WILEY (or varient)
in either county either.

I double checked my "Blue Ridge Mountain Kinfolks", and the author does have
John McBRIDE as the spouse of the Lilly HALL d/o Jacob "Jake" HALL, and also in
his version of the BEDWELL book, which must be an error on the part of the author, and I
also had a William D. MCBRIDE who m. Lilly and they were confused. No wonder I
couldn't find a John MCBRIDE with wife Lillian/Lily.
I agree that it looks that the daughter of Stephen Alexander CARRICO and Lillian E. HALL
may be that child named May CARRICO b. Jun 1898 in the 1900 census of Emanuel CARRICO.
But, as to the older two children in Emanuel's 1900, household, need to find a
marriage or other record that verifies their actual birth year or a marriage record
identifying parents. According to the Grayson Co. Deaths 1870/1896 Josie CARRICO died 7
Sep 1894 age 22 (b. c 1872) dau. of Wm and Charlotte CARRICO, Josie's consort S. A.
CARRICO, well things did happen even in those days, but Stephen Alexander and Josie were
married Apr 1891, while the Birdie CARRICO was born Jul 1891, and Steven G. was born May
1895 - after the death of Josie in Sep 1894, soo I don't yet know until I find those
marriage records that lists parents. I have them for Alleghany Co., North Carolina to
1950s and wish I had them for Grayson Co., Virginia after 1882.
Now as to the Lillian who married a McBRIDE, I haven't seen that census yet but I will
bet that this she is the HALL, and that you have the right couple, and that she married
shortly after that 1900 census.
Having those Grayson Co., Marriages after 1892 would help a great deal, I am in hopes that
my distant cousin might be able to get me a CD. Will know later.

Dwelling 501, Family 501, Enumerated 21 Jul 1870.
-Emanuel Carrico, 26, m/w, farm laborer, $200/$120, Virginia, cannot write, citizen.
NOTE: Where is his wife Sarah Emaline? On 1900 Census they were married 35 yrs.
In 1880 Emanuel and Emaline had a son Elbert, age 12.
In 1870 Emanuel shows as single.
Next door is family of Emaline, age 24, and Johnson Cole with children:
James Wiley, age 6,
Elbert Wiley, age 2, and
George W. Owens, 14.
[In the 1860 Census, there is Emaline, age 17, with George Owens.
In 1860 George W. Owens, age 2, is shown with Ann and James W. Owens. James W. and George
could be brothers.
In 1870 there is an Elbert Wiley age 2 and a James Wiley age 6.
In 1880 there is an Elbert, 12, listed as son of Emanuel. Did James, age 6 in 1870, die
before 1880 or was he living elsewhere? Are the two Elberts the same.
Did the enumerator get these families confused? Emaline & Emanuel married 14 Dec
1865.]
