I rec'd a message today from a Carrico who could trace back to a R. Everett Carrico b.
1883 IN
married to Nellie M. Taylor. Everett's parents were Thomas & Eliza Carrico. As I
didn't have these
Carrico's in my file, I did some census research to locate them & see if I could
go back further
than Thomas. What I found contradicts what was published in "The Carrico Family"
in 1951 by Homer
Edwin Carrico.
From census records:
1900 in Shawswick Twp., Lawrence Co., IN.
Ancestry.com incorrectly transcribed the head of
the
household as "Florence" Carrico, but it is definetly Thomas as follows:
Street name is hard to read, but it looks like 2011 Starrt St. visit # 597 family # 656
Carrico, Thomas age 41 b. Jan. 1859 KY both parents b. KY Occupation: Farmer married for
15 years
Eliza (wife) age 38 b. May 1862 IN both parents b. IN 6 children born 5 living
Everett (son) age 14 b. Aug. 1885 IN
Dellis (son) age 11 b. Dec. 1888 IN
Gladis (dau) age ? b. ??? 1896 IN
Laveda (dau) age 6 b. Apr. 1894 IN
Clarence (son) age 2 b. Jul 1897 IN
In 1910 he's listed as Thomas Carico in Bedford City, Ward 1, Lawrence Co., IN age 53
b. in MO with
both parents b. in KY, Eliza is still with him age 47 as are Dellis, Laveda, Clarence
& also a dau.
Alma aged 10. Everett is in a seperate household with "Nellie" & Gladis is
poss married as well?
Trying to trace back, I found the following:
Perry Twp., Martin Co., IN
David R. Carrico age 55 b. KY both parents b. KY Occ: House Joiner Carpenter
Sabina T (wife) age 51 b. KY father b. KY mother b. MD
Thomas J (or I) (son) age 21 b. MO Occ. Bridge Carpenter
John E (son) age 19 b. MO Occ: Carpenter
Benedict V. (son) age 13 b. IN
I also found the marriage record of Thomas to Eliza "Maddux" in
ancestry.com's Indiana Marriage
Collection as occuring in Martin Co., IN on Nov. 25, 1884.
This would agree with the 1900 census where Thomas & Eliza indicated they had been
married for 15
years. Also, the occupation of "Carpenter" in all the census
records..............
I have found also found David Carrico in all census records as follows:
1850 Hardin Co., KY
1860 Marion Co., MO
1870 Martin Co., IN
All records indicate that his son Thomas was born 1858/1859 in MO.
David married Theresa Sebina Luckett June 15 1847 in Meade Co., KY. According to Homer
Edwin Carrico
she was dau. of Thomas Ignatius Luckett & Julet A. Carrico & David was son of
Vincent Carrico & Mary
Elder. Will have to look at this info. more to see if there is anything to
prove/disprove.
Homer did state that David had a son Thomas Ignatius but that he married a Betsey Rea in
IN, but,
from the census records it looks like this Thomas was born abt. 1820. I found a marriage
record of a
Thomas Carico to Elizabeth Ray 1858 in Parke Co., IN, & by the census records &
the listing & ages
of the children of this Thomas, he couldn't poss. have been the son of David &
Sabina.
Looking for comments, discussion, input.
Thanks,
Linda Boorom
