Michael,
William H. seems to disappear from Charles Co. after 1820, so the census record is all I
have on him
at this point. AND, what seems odd is he is 26/45 (b. 1775-1794) & the female is over
45 years (b.
before 1775). Unless of course the census taker made an error, which I have seen happen.
The marriage records I have been able to locate are listed on this page:
http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~boorom/carrico/mdmarr.html
I ordered FHL film 113759 on Sat. which has Records of the congregations of Upper and
Lower Zachian,
Mattawoman & St Mary's (Bryantown) : 1793-1861 & also Trinity Parish,
1729-1826, 1750 to 1797,
Charles County, Md.
Besides looking for baptisms, I'm more interested in the godparents. So, maybe after
the film comes
in & I'm able to review, we might have som more information to work with &
hopefully answers :-)
Linda

You are doing some great work Linda, and perhaps opened my eyes to
something
I hadn't thought about before.
After reviewing all of the available information, I would now have to
state/agree that Carrico was probably Sarah's married name prior to her 1799
marriage to John Lawrence Simpson.
The 1790 Census for Thomas Callieo (Carrico) would definitely seem to fit as
her first husband.
The 1810 Census for John L. Simpson shows:
1810 Charles County
John L. Simpson - 00201 12110
We know from the Rev War records that John and Sarah only had one child,
daughter Mary Ann Simpson. The other children listed in the household must
be Sarah's children from her first marriage - two sons and three daughters.
1820 District 4, Charles County list:
John Simpson 000001 00201
immediately followed by
Thomas Carrico 000010 20010
two pages later
William H. Carrico 000010 00001
We know from the various records that Thomas Carrico is one of the sons, but
wonder if the William H. Carrico listed in the 1820 Census (also in District
4) is the other son; and what are the names of the daughters.
Cheers, Michael
