Linda,
If we can believe Homer Edwin Carrico's research, the sons of Peter &
Margaret (Gates) Carrico: John (ca1739), Thomas Ignatius (ca1741), James
(ca1743), Bartholomew (ca1745) and Basil (ca1747), would have been of the
same generation as Monica (Carrico) Goff (ca1734 - 1747 or, more likely,
ca1740-1744).
If Peter had daughters, they are not named in his will nor are there any
lawsuits in Charles Co where a daughter of daughters of Peter challenged his
will. If there were daughters, they may have been provided for previous to
his will.
If Monica was born as early as ca1734, the Peter Carrico born ca1722 would
have been too young to have been her father; however, if the ca1740-1744
birth range is correct, this Peter would have been 18-22 at her birth which
is still a little early for men during that time period to marry and father
children. Monica's birth can only be roughly estimated as there is no known
Bible record of her birth and there is no document giving her age at any
given time nor has a tombstone for her been located giving her birth date or
age at death.
There are a lot of ifs in this message and that is why I suspended research
on the Carrico family sometime ago after years of searching for the link
between my ancestor, Monica (Carrico) Goff, and Peter Carrico, the immigrant
but I still have hope. BTW, Mediterranean features are evident among the
descendants of John Turton & Monica (Carrico) Goff.

Phil,
I'm not 100% certain that Charles Co., MD was the "only" home of the
Carrico's before 1767.
At St. Paul's in what was then Stafford Co., VA but now King George Co.:
Sarah Carrico married Joseph King in 1731 (I believe I'd found that he had
some Charles Co., MD connections)
Thomas Carrico married Jane McCant or McCart in 1744. They had 2 sons,
John
& Alexander before Thomas had died by 1748. It's my belief
that the
mariners, John & Alexander of MA by the Revolution are these 2 gentlemen.
Abel & Ann Carrico sold the remaining parts of the tract called St.
George's
in 1758, both deeds indicate that he was "moving". He does
not appear on
the
1758 tax list in Charles Co., per the Charles Co. MDGenWeb archives
(I
haven't checked the orig. document myself yet). Even though he sold this
land in 1758, his name still appears on the "debt book" for this property
in
1770.
If in 1758 he moved to Fairfax VA, I don't know, the earliest record of
him
in Fairfax is in a 1770 "List of Inhabitants of Fairfax County,
Virginia"
when both an Abel & a William "Callico" are mentioned. Don't know if
this
was Abel I or Abel II, but the mention of a William in this time frame
suggests that Abel I may have also had a son William whose descendants may
be those found in the early census records in this part of VA.
Of course, all of the above mentioned VA counties are just across the
Potomac from MD
By the time of the Revolution, records show not only Peter III migrating
westward, but also Thomas I. & his brother Basil Carrico AND there is also
a
John "Callicoe" already in Washington Co. MD who is listed
on the 1783
Assessment there. Washington Co., MD is where Thomas I. & Basil are found
in
1790 as well as another poss. younger Basil Carrico. John has
disappeared.
Of course, given the time frame you suggest for Monica's birth, & if we
presume Peter Carrico I only had 3 sons, Peter, James & Abel, her father
would have to be one of those 3. Of course, we don't know yet how Sarah or
Thomas of Stafford Co. Va fit here yet & I'm not entirely convinced yet
that
we aren't missing a Peter................... A few things just
aren't
adding
up in my brain with some of the information available, but I think my
brain
has developed a road block or something with trying to make sense of
it.
It
may be time to put aside the Carrico's for awhile and look at
everything
again later. :-)
