Thanks for checking the original document, Linda. Another lesson in the hazards
of trusting published transcriptions and the need to get the original. This one
was "Charles County, Maryland, Land Records, 1722-1733" by T.L.C. Genealogy,
Miami Beach, FL. To their credit, they said his surname was "uncertain." But
no wonder I never found him again!
Interestingly, there's an O'Brien in the 1910 census who is mis-indexed Carrico.
Not the worst mis-reading I've seen, but pretty far-fetched. Another bad one in
1910 is a Paine indexed Carico. :-o

There was no Gerrard Carrico.
Liber M 2 folio 288 actually records the mark of a Gerrard O'Cain & is
listed in the index of that volume as such.
His mark was recorded 22 day of June 1732.
He was deceased by 1734
