I missed Peter, thank you for the record. And now I see he does turn up on a
search, so I must have done the DC in 1820 page before you added the correction.
I had searched on CAR*, but I never would have thought to search on CAS*. Good
find. With regard to no CARRICOs in DC until the 1820 census...
The District of Columbia wasn't formed until 1791, so in the 1790 census, one
needs to look in either Montgomery Co. or Prince George's Co., MD. Also, the
entire 1810 DC census was lost, I presumed destroyed when the British burned
Washington (including the Library of Congress) in 1814. If you look at the
total numbers for each of the existing DC census years, all of the pre-1850 ones
seem too low, especially 1840 (which is lower than 1830!), so for whatever
reasons, I suspect each of the pre-1850 censuses of DC is incomplete. In such
cases, of course, the first place to turn is the tax rolls...
I suspect the "Bartholomew" is more than coincidence. Someone hog-tie a DC
CARRICO and swab his cheek!

Diana & all,
Kathie & Sharon Brahmstadt sent me several of the DC Carrico documents that
I have put on my website in the "District of Columbia" section. These
include William B. Carrico's family bible & various death records.
According to William's 1857 obit that I found, he had been a resident of DC
for 58 years or since abt. 1799. However, no Carrico's are to be found in
the DC census until 1820.
To add to your list below, there is also Peter Carrico, misindexed as
Cassier. I submitted the correction, don't know if it is searchable or not.
It is my understanding that the James & Peter were William's brother's.
Interesting that the B. stands for "Bartholomew"!! I don't think that
Sharon
is certain who the Jane Carrico was, but suspects that she was their mother.
As to Alexander, he is actually in Georgetown, not Washington with the
others. I suspect that this is James Carrico of Peter's son. He seems to be
the Alexander Carrico who married Priscilla Kinnick 1820 in Prince George's
Co.
