Linda,
This is fantastic. Your approach in going back to the original source
documents is the only answer. Roy Lockhart and I applied the same approach
to our book, The Four Goff Brothers of Western Virginia. By discarding
everything but what appeared in documents during the lives of our ancestors,
a new and more accurate view appeared. I now believe that Carrico family may
hold a key to finding the parents of the four Goff brothers. I'm interested
to help sort out the early history of the Carrico family. Thanks,
Phil Goff

Subject: [CARRICO] Maryland State Archives
I'd just like to point out a few discovery's I've made in
the past few
weeks. The Maryland State Archives
http://www.msa.md.gov/msa/homepage/html/homepage.html
have, besides numerous searchable databases, also numerous images of
original documents, many of which don't (as they are images) appear to be
found just searching through their search engine. In particular, I have
found, by obtaining a password via e-mail, that they have many of the
Various county land records online, (there are some problems with the
Charles Co. land records in the 1800's not linked to the right volume
which
I have notified them about & rec'd confirmation that they have rec'd my
e-mail & have also phoned them regarding a few of the problems)
I have found some Carrico records in other counties & will, as I find
time,
transcribe to place on my website
http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~boorom/carrico/carrico.html
Also, in the section titled Archives of Maryland Online are numerous
volumes
of records, some transcribed, some just images (thus not searchable). I've
found some interesting things searching Volume 729 which had the 1798
Direct
Tax, and other volumes with the Prerogative Court Land Records.
I'll try to transcribe & get online for other Carrico researchers as soon
as
I am able, but, these records are there for everyone to look at and
transcribe (if you'd like to help :-)
Anyway, I have had some days feeling lucky searching, others not so.
But, I think there are records out there, we just need to go in search of
them.
Heck, I don't mean just MD, they are trying to make it easy for us putting
some of it online, but there are other states where later Carrico's
resided,
there may be films from LDS in Utah that can be rented for a nominal fee
and
sent to a FHC near you.
