Yes, you get a different picture when you start working on CARRICOs other than
your own. From extracting CARRICO census records:
http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/Census/Carrico/CarricoCensusHub.shtml
I soon came to find in the early censuses that two names were likely to be
mis-indexed CARRICO: CARRICE and CARRIER. In building the census summary:
http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/Census/Carrico/CarricoCensusSummary.shtml
I found two more names that were, in the later censuses, likely to be indexed
CARRICO: one is the Italian name, CARUSO, and the other is the Spanish name,
CARASCO.
I strongly urge everyone who has a subscription to the census at
Ancestry.com to
add a correction to the index whenever they find a mis-indexed CARRICO. I have
added many, but the ones I've found are probably the tip of the iceberg.
The O'BRIEN's who are indexed CARICO are in the 1910 census of Suffield,
Hartford Co., CT (p. 115A). I see my correction to the index is now searchable.
The PAINE's who are indexed CARICO and CAINE are in the 1910 census of Hamilton,
Grant Co., OR (p. 252A). The surname isn't clearly readable there, so I had to
find the family in 1900 to be certain it really was PAINE. My correction there
is not yet searchable.
Can't help you with the deed, I'm afraid. I'm getting pretty good at finding
and extracting census records, but I'm a novice when it comes to historical
documents, which is why I so much appreciate all you've done in that regard.

Geez,
guess I haven't gone that far ahead looking at census records for Carrico's
(except my own) to note off the wall errors like you're finding. It doesn't
make sense..........
Any specifics on the records? I know I've found tons of miss-transcriptions,
but nothing this far off? Did the indexer know there were O'Brien/O'Bryans
connected to the Carrico's. or is this a sign from him above??? LOL
seriously though, can you direct me to these, I'd love to see what you are
referring to.
Meanwhile, this afternoon I thought I came upon a wonderful discovery, still
not sure that it might not be something very interesting, but I did realize
that it was noted in earlier archives of this message list by Carol Mitchell
regarding a "Deed Recovery" involving John Rogers, Samuel Hanson & Peter
Carrico dated 1769. I wish I was more familiar with legal terms to
understand this Deed through the Prerogative Court. Apparently there was a
hearing a few days before & then this deed was drawn up. I am going to see
if Michael Hiat can obtain the court abstract for me, that MIGHT yield
something..........
Meanwhile, I may try to transcribe the deed and if there is anyone more
familiar with the legal terms in the 1769 MD time period????
Little by little we will untangle.
Linda
