Just wondering if anyone has info. from the assorted books published regarding early KY
taxpayers.
T.L.C Genealogy did some on individual counties, another "Early Kentucy Tax
Records" from the
register of th eKentucky Historical Society by Carol Lee Ford (unk date). The library
across the
river from me in Kenton Co. KY has some of these, just haven't found time to look
for.
I currently have 4 films from LDS at my local FHL, 2 of the earliest records of Washington
Co., KY &
2 of the earliest records of Nelson Co., KY. Saturday I browsed through a few before I
settled in at
the microfilm scanner to scan copies. I only got through the first of Washington Co., KY,
now at
home, some are not that readable. Have plans of heading back shortly to recheck some and
then go to
the early records of Nelson. Am meanwhile, working on getting the information online.
BUT, knowing what some of these published records have might help me, esp. with some of
the records
that are so faint to make them unreadable. If I knew who was where when, it might help.
Of interest, in the earliest records, there are listings not only for males above 21 years
of age,
but also above 16 years of age. I beleive that once I have gone through these and the
contents
studied (perhaps even discussed???), the records just might help to fit families together,
answer
some questions & dispell some inaccuracies of family groups.
