I'm curious if anyone else besides me has been having trouble posting to rootsweb
lists. I've had an
ongoing problem the past 6 weeks or so. Any message or subscription to a list bounces back
to me
stating that Sorbs has blacklisted my IP address and delivery of my message has failed.
Rootsweb has begun using Sorbs to filter for Spam. Unfortunately, Sorbs also blocks
legitimate
e-mail. I have a dynamic IP address, which, if I understand correctly, means that it can
change (by
rebooting the modem) and others may have the same address that is from time to time given
to me.
Even more confusing, it appears that Sorbs will block an IP address if its similar to one
that is
blacklisted. I've written to Sorbs, the Rootsweb Help Desk and spent many hours on the
phone with my
ISP. If this message gets through, I'll feel lucky, but fear it's only temporary.
I'm curious if anyone else has had problems lately. If so, do not reply to the list,
but contact me
directly. There is no way of knowing how widespread the problems being caused by Sorbs,
esp. if one
cannot get a message through to any rootsweb lists :-(
I should have let Leighton know I "think" I was able to get my message to the
list this morning. I
see it in the list archives, but also sent a copy to myself which is the only message
I've rec'd,
the one to the list hasn't actually come through to me yet. I'm copying this
message to myself as
well, as I'm curious to see what IP addresses are listed in the headers (If it gets
through)
I apologize for this message, but I'm at my wits end.
Linda
Linda,
Yes, your posting went through. I was working my way from earliest to
latest and didn't see it had gotten to the list.
