Marilyn,
Carricos Hope, Maidstone, Preston ect. are/were all in present day Charles Co., MD. The
original
patents for both Maidstone & Preston were in St. Mary's Co., but the boundary
changed in the 1690's
between the 2 counties. I have only begun looking into the tract Preston, so can't
state for
certain, but I think it too was in the vacinity of Maidstone & other lands owned by
the Gates
family.
Maidstone appears to have been just west or south west of Hughesville, between present day
Burnt
Store Rd & Carricos Mill road, just above what is shown on the google map as Gilbert
Lake AKA
Jameson Lake. It appears to all be a modern subdivision with very expensive houses right
now.
Whether or not the George Keeth/Keith was father of Joanna Carrico who married James
Carrico son of
John Carrico, I can't tell, it may have been George's father, also George who had
lease a part of
Maidstone from Peter Carrico in 1730.

Hi Linda & all,
I plan to go to the MD to KY Reunion, July 16-18, 2010, in Maryland.
They have a reunion every other year, in one area or another.
Maybe you have already talked about this; in what county or near what town is
Carrico's Hope?
I would really like to see that area next summer.
Several of my ancestors went from MD to KY in the late 1700's.
As far as I know, they were Carrico, Keith, Cissell, Riney, Raney, Sheehan, Summers,
Tewell,
Adams, O'Brien, Moore.
I think some of them travelled down the Ohio river. Does anyone have info about their
travels at
that time?
My great-great grandparents were George H. Carrico and Mary Ann Summers. They were born
and
married in Daviess County, Indiana.
His father George G. Carrico was born in MD, married in Washington Co, KY and died in
Daviess Co,
IN. He married Elizabeth Cissell.
George G. Carrico was a son of James Carrico and Joanna Keith from MD.
Was she a descendent of George "Keeth"?
Linda Boorom shared the information that land was originally patented to him in 1766.
thank you, Marilyn (Sause) Gappa
