Hi all,
I'd like to thank all you kind folks on this forum, (and the hosts of
same) who have helped me find info & cousins beyond my wildest dreams! The
internet is the perfect power tool for genealogy!
Any way, I'd like to return the favor by sharing a new tool I found for
researching our family line. It's called a Genealogical Index. I have found
only 3 sites doing this on the net so far, but it is a VERY powerful tool.
One of them is ROOTSWEB'S WORLDCONNECT PROJECT as announced by John
Hagan about a month ago. I tried it, and highly recommend them!
I will post the addresses below. First, they show you a list of surnames
you are looking for, then a list of family member names. You may see your
family member listed more than once, that's because you are seeing a list
of ALL the different gedcoms (family files) that are available on the WWW!
You will want to click on every listing you see for your family member,
because some files will only have their ancestors, while others will only
have their descendants. ( These are all family genealogy web pages!) Once
you see the power of these indexes, and how much info you can get from
them, you will want to post your own family info on them, (they make it
VERY easy, and free!!) so we can all put the pieces of this puzzle together.
Happy Hunting!
Michael
