Dear Marilyn and Dan,
Thanks for your message. The site is not Ancestry but I do have links TO Ancestry.
The search engine that you want to use is on the right side of the main page http://www.obitcentral.com. You will see the magnifying glass with the words, "Search Archives by Keywords". Use that search window and type in your surname of interest.
Hope this helps.

For the record, these are the Carrico's I have found in the 1st census. Note that much of the 1790 census has not survived & many states are missing, most notably VA which in 1790 would have included all of KY. Names are listed as they are found in the indexes.

(Unknown)CARRICO was the father and (Unknown)KANE was the mother of Grace Ruth Carrico (b.09/04/1890 d.07/24/1943, Ventura County, CA).
The South Dakota site for searching birth records over 100 years old doesn't find any children born to Kane and Carrico.
Does anybody have any information on Carrico men who married Kanes?

Since I continue to come up with more questions than answers in my Carrico
research, I thought I'd begin to post some to the list. Hoping to promote
some discussion & perhaps resolve some issues & find answers!
Since I've so many, wasn't sure where to begin, but since I was looking at
this tonight, thought I'd start with this one:
Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin, Volume 1-38 Vol. 33, No. 4, Fall
1992
Page 699 Charles County Depositions by Robert W. Barnes
Carricoe, James, age 70, 28 Sept. 1763, stated his father was Peter
Carricoe; CHLR P#3, 59:614
Carrico, Margaret, age 52, stated she was the wife of Peter Carricoe, 28
Sept. 1767; CHLR 59:614
Note both of these are same mo/dy & same place, but different year. It would
appear that the date of James' deposition should be the same as that of
Margaret. Has anyone obtained a copy of the complete deposition to know what
it was about?
Page 693 states "These deposistions were abstracted by (Raphael?) Semmes,
and may be found in one of the boxes of his Genealogical Collection at the
Maryland Historical Society. Many of the depositions were taken from Land
Commissions recorded in the regular land records of Charles County. Some,
but by no means all, of these depositions were originally published by
Cregar and Johnston, and later by Peden, but these abstracts often give
biographical data missing from the other versions. The page number given may
be the page on which the land commission begins, and the page on which the
deposition is actually found.
It continues with a listing of each box & the years. CHLR #59: confirm P#3,
1766-1767.
It would appear then that the actual date of the deposition is likely 1767,
so James was born 1696/97, not 1692/93!
Also, this was after Peter II died, perhaps something regarding Maidstone?
Not to bring up another subject (but I will) the deed of Apr 6 1764 from
Peter Jr to Peter SR seems a bit odd to me.I'm sure it's in the Carrico
archives, but Diana Mattheson has it posted here:
http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/7/Carrico/FGS/PeterCarricoe-AnnGates-Margaret...
Searching for something else recently I found a website regarding titles to
land in this time period. Will have to see if I can find again, but the
topic was that often the title could not simply be transferred, or one
didn't have legal title, a deed was drawn up transferring ownership from one
to another, often the first party was a fictious person whom others would
later testify that they did indeed exist & then the 2nd party would be
granted title which he could then sell, mortgage, etc.
Anyway, didn't mean to bring up 2 thoughts in one message, but perhaps this
deposition could give some answers?

Have gotten a number of replies & have written to the Historical Soc. & the
archives........ Will keep you posted.
Bad news, my hard drive crashed just before Christmas. Badder news, have
decided to forgo all previoulsy published Carrico info & build my own only
siting primary source records over Homer Edwin Carrico "The Carrico Family"
or Maude Carrico Russell's chart (which a cousin has & I have transcribed),
of both which have many errors......
Will have tons of questions in the puzell trying to fit my Alexander AKA
John A. Carrico.
Just trying to figure how best to send.........

Can anyone advise me where to write for a marriage license from 1800 in
Montgomery Co MD?
My subsription to Genealogy Library.com has Marriage Index: Maryland,
1655-1850 which lists Callico, Alexu. & Mary Sedgwick "married" Jan. 04,
1800 in Montgomery Co MD.
This is my ancestor Alexander Carrico who seems to have dropped into
Montgomery Co from nowhere (or perhaps form Charles Co MD?). He's my brick
wall and am hoping if I could obtain a copy of the marriage license it might
give a clue (married by? bondsman? etc.) where to look for additional
records. At least 5 children were born in Montgomery Co. MD before the
family moved by 1810 to Fayette Co PA & then onto KY ca 1815 joining other
Carrico families there.
