Hello List,
Preliminary results (markers 1-25 and 38-47) have returned for the second member
of the CARRICO project (Kit #62917). He is descended from Peter CARRICOE, the
1674 immigrant, on this line:
Peter CARRICOE I, the immigrant
_Peter CARRICO II
__James CARRICO & Elizabeth CLEMENT
___Dennis Sylvester CARRICO & Jane CLARK
____James CARRICO & Sarah Rosalia VEAZEY
_____Thomas Elisha CARRICO & Louise Elizabeth BANCKE
______Floyd Huston CARRICO & Loyal Ellen JOHNSON

This second individual is now a 24/25 match with our first member:
http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/DNA/Carrico/CarricoDNA-results.shtml
While not conclusive at this level (the match could theoretically fall apart at
higher levels), a match at this level is not inconsistent with them having a
near common ancestor. But given the rarity of their haplotypes, I have little
doubt the match will remain tight at higher levels.
This member is testing to a full 67 markers, while the original member "only"
tested 37, which was the maximum available at the time. I would urge this
original member to upgrade to 67, and I would urge all new members to test to 67
because...
It's possible that all CARRICOs in the U.S. descend from the one immigrant,
which means we are going to match each other very closely, even at high levels.
If we want to have any hope of distinguishing lines, we need to test all the
markers we can get (the maximum we can actually test at FTDNA is currently 95).
This second member's lineage is online at my web site in the form of linked
family group sheets, which you can hook into from Floyd Huston's page:
http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/FGS/Car/CarricoFloydHuston-_-LoyalEllenJohnso...
As you will see, I have more work to do on the pages, so if you have anything to
contribute -- or if you have any corrections to make -- please don't hesitate to
contact me.
If you wish to discuss the test results or DNA testing in general, please feel
to respond here. I would request, however, that if you want to discuss this
individual's paper genealogy, that we move the converstion to the CARRICO
mailing list as there is a much larger audience there.
Well, we are off to a good start, because this close match was expected. So
far, so good. :-)
Diana
P.S. I would urge both our members to upload their results to Ysearch, which
can be done from a link on the "Y-DNA Matches" tab of your member page.
