Hello List,
So far, five of the 18 Haplogroup J2a4b CARRICOs - known or presumed
descendants of Peter CARRICO, 1674 immigrant to Maryland - have
upgraded their testing to 111 markers. The reason to test more
markers, of course, is to find "branch markers" that identify family
lines:

Well, the CARRICOs are proving themselves to be the most stubbornly
"un-mutated" family in all my projects! I truly cannot believe how
few new mutations we are picking up in Panel 5, which means the
palindromic markers remain our best hope as these are the most
variable of all markers:

The goal here is to pick up branch markers that are congruent with
branches in our paper genealogy, which has worked so well, for
example, in this CORBIN family (please scroll to the right to see
lines supported by mutations):

I know you may be discouraged from upgrading to 111 markers, not to
mention adding the palindromic markers as well, but there is still
hope that we will find at least some mutations that will allow some
members to prove their lines. I am so anxious to see this happen, I'm
willing to make this offer...
I will split the cost with any of these CARRICOs willing to upgrade
from 67 to 111 markers ($129/2 = $64.50), and I will make the same
offer to anyone willing to test the eight palindromic markers ($127/2
= $63.50). Of course, if you can afford to pay for both sets of tests
entirely, yourself, that would be appreciated. And if you can help
subsidize this offer, that would be appreciated, too. It is really
beyond extravagant for me to be making this offer, but I feel the
press of time and would like to see some progress before I croak.
As for the mechanics of ordering the tests, you will need to make a
donation to the CARRICO General Fund (I have just made a donation to
the fund sufficient to cover the cost of two persons testing both sets
of markers):

After making your donation, please order the Panel 5 upgrade (67 to
111 markers) using the *Invoice* payment method. The server will
notify me when you make the purchase, at which point I will direct the
billing department at FTDNA to pay for the upgrade from the project
General Fund. There will be a zero balance due on the invoice, so
they will not even send you a bill.
The palindromic markers cannot be ordered by the Invoice method. If
you pay for them, yourself, you can order them, yourself, and pay for
them with your credit card. If you want me to split the cost and pay
for them from the General Fund, I will have to email your order to
FTDNA. I just need your permission to do so.
These are the eight palindromics to order (the seven DYF markers are
listed together, just below Y-GGAAT-1B07, and the DYS marker is a
little further down the list):
DYF371X
DYF385
DYF397
DYF399X
DYF401
DYF408
DYF411
DYS725
All of these tests can probably be run using the sample FTDNA already
has on hand, especially if you still have an unopened vial. If they
need another sample, they will mail you more vials without charge.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
