While I understand that Diana doesn't want the Carrico-DNA list to become a discussion
regarding
topic's better suited for the Carrico list, I feel strongly that this topic is
appropriate for both
lists. The DNA has to also involve discussion of the "paper trail".
Did James Carrico b. 1696/97 leave male descendants?
I think there is certainly a "paper trail" or evidence which strongly indicates
that he did.
I have not as yet obtained a copy of this actual document as yet, BUT, if the
transcription is as
transcribed, it is the earliest indication that James had sons.
At some point I would like to try to obtain copies of whatever "tax lists" are
available, but for
now we'll go with the avail. transcription:

TU 45 1 Carico John 1 "son of James"
25 years later, we have the "1783 Assessment" in Maryland for Charles Co. I do
have copies of these
documents from the Maryland Archives which I can send to anyone interested. I have
included a
transcription on my website
http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~boorom/carrico/census1783.html
Note in 1783 in relation to this topic:
"James of James" had 7 white inhabitants
"Joseph of James" had 6 white inhabitants
Neither James nor Joseph could have be descendants of "James of Peter" (also
listed with 9 white
inhabitants). His will did not mention a son Joseph, nor is there any
indication/suggestion that he
was married & having children previous to 1755.
Both James & Joseph were at least 18 years of age & by the number of inhabitants
in their
households, married for "at least" 10 years give or take a few, but likely
longer. A rough
estimation of James & Joseph's birth's (18 + 10 = 28- 1783) suggests they were
both born before 1755
(at least).
Are James & Joseph are sons of James b. 1696/97?
Or did Able have a son James who was bearing children previous to ca. 1755?? The 1758 tax
list
doesn't even list Able. Where was he?
