Oh, I definitely agree, Leighton. We are simply finding, with CARRICO, what
nearly every surname project is finding: that most surnames have multiple, if
not many, different origins, even in the same region.
I have a case in my STRAUB project where tested individuals have a known
earliest ancestor in villages just 4 km apart in Wuerttemberg -- and they don't
match. With the exception of some clans, surname adoption is a recent thing for
most people, and it appears the same surnames were adopted many times and by
unrelated people.
I do find myself hoping, however, that I live long enough to find out the origin
of Peter CARRICO! I'm dying of curiosity -- err, well, I hope not, actually.

Portel, Alentejo, Portugal
Diana,
It is interesting to note that this Carrico family in
Portugal does not match the Portugal to Brazil to US
Carrico either and that the latter is quite a bit closer
to the Peter Carrico bunch although not that close.
It seems too early to give up on Portugal before
some other Carrico lines from there are also tested.
