Hello List,
We have a new member, sort of...
There is a CARRICO who was tested at FTDNA well over a year ago, who did not
join the project. For those of you descended from Peter CARRICO I, the
immigrant, this person shows up on the "Y-DNA Matches" list on your member
page.
I invited this person to join, but never got a response to my emails.
This individual has a distinctive given name, and Linda Boorom was prompted to
do some sleuthing to identify him and trace his lineage. She succeeded in doing
so and kindly shared her discovery with me. Thank you, Linda!
Now that I know his lineage, I can place him in the project results table. We
know his results because he is a 12/12 match with the very rare haplotype of
this family. He appears as Kit #????? in the table:

What is most significant about him is that he is another descendant of Charles
CARRICO of Sullivan Co., IN, through another of Charles's sons, namely Josiah
CARRICO. We had our answer as to whether Charles was really a CARRICO, or not,
all along! Well, at least now it is doubly confirmed that he is.
Linda also determined that the test subject is deceased and that the contact is
his daughter. I have again emailed her, inviting her to join him to the
project. As an incentive, I've offered to pay for his upgrade from 12 to 67
markers. We need to know whether this mutation at CDYb, carried by the
descendants of Charles and James T., is just a coincidence or whether it's
consistent for all of their descendants.
Thank you, again, Linda, for making this individual's results of use to the
project. They're of value even if my offer is not accepted.
Diana
