Hi Linda!
It was interesting to receive the obituary that you sent to me. I live
about a half hour away from O'Fallon IL (by the way there is also an
O'Fallon MO just an hour away). Do you live in this area? I'm in Glen
Carbon IL. I know when I started researching Carricos, back in the late
1970s, that I found there were Catholic Carricos in St. Louis at an early
date. However I knew that they weren't on my direct line.
My John "Maxwell" Carrico seemed like an orphan because he was the only
Carrico around back in the 1850s. He settled in western Missouri (DeKalb
County) and my g.g.grandmother Permelia was born there. Within a few years
he moved a little further west to Atchison, Kansas and stayed there.
Maxwell's birth family stayed in Sullivan County, Indiana. Maxwell ventured
west with his wife's people (Simmons and Allumbaughs).
Tracing my g.g.grandmother's life has been difficult because she was married
5 times. I know all of the supposed husband's names, but I can't document
all of the marriages. Usually her husband died, but there may have been a
divorce or two in there too. She spent most of her adult life moving around
Colorado. I think she was a cook for mining camps. My g.grandmother's
first husband was a Norwegian gold miner. They married in Colorado, and had
one child, my grandmother. The marriage lasted about 5 years, and they
divorced.
Thanks for contacting me.
Jeanne
