Hi Monte,
This result is "not inconsistent" with that view, but it's not proof of it,
either.
Our most recent SNP mutation is M67, which occurred in Haplogroup J about
10-11,000 years ago. This was long before the advent of Judaism. While today,
a high percentage of Jews are Haplogroup J, Jews represent only a tiny
percentage of Haplogroup J. In other words, most Haplogroup J's are not Jewish.
It is also the case that Jews have been very active in researching their origins
and in being DNA tested, so we have a good database of their haplotypes. These
tend to form clusters with known origins/heritage. There are Jews who are
members of the Hap-J project, including some who are J2a1b. We don't come
close to matching any of them, which argues against CARRICO being Jewish.
Sometimes non-Jews were accused by the Inquisition of being Jewish simply as a
way to separate them from their money. In fact, didn't you tell me, Tim, that
Pero Dias CARRICO had been a former persecutor of Jews?
However, at this point I'm not sticking my neck out and predicting anything to
do with CARRICO origins. In some respects, we are more of a mystery now than we
were before...
Our most urgent need is to test CARRICOs from around the world. I wish I knew a
fast way to bring them into the project, beyond just posting pleas on the
internet. I feel like my posts are messages in bottles cast upon a vast ocean.
Will anyone ever find any of them? Much less do anything?
Diana

Hello again!
So, what's all that mean Diana?
We are probably Jewish like Tim Weaver thought?
Interesting.
