Hello List,
We have results returned for a new member (#322834), a CARRIÇO whose paternal
grandfather was Baltasar Fainha CARRIÇO (1905-1978) of Monte do Trigo, in Portel
Municipality, Alentejo Region, Portugal.
I had rather expected he would be a match for the previously tested CARRIÇO from
Portel, but alas not, nor does he have a significant match with anyone else.
#322834 is Haplogroup R1b1a2 (= R-M269):

CARRIÇO continues to prove that it has multiple origins, just like the surnames
in all my other projects.
Not to be disheartened, though. We recently "crossed the pond" with my CORBIN
family, and we crossed the pond with my German STRAUB family several years ago,
so it does happen. It just takes persistence. And I hope we may have
stimulated an interest in the Portuguese CARRIÇO's to delve into their roots for
their own sake, not just to aid their long lost American cousins.
