I posted a message to the CARRICO-L list that may be of interest to you. It has
to do with detecting ethnicity via FamilyFinder (autosomal-DNA) testing and with
having the results of BigY testing analyzed by YFull:

In response to this message, one of the BigY-tested CARRICOs contacted me
offlist, displaying some reticence over uploading to YFULL because the site is
run by Russian scientists:

This is a slightly edited version of my response...
I appreciate your reticence because I felt the same way
when I first visited their web site. I emailed them
suggesting they give more information about themselves
on the site, but they apparently seem to think anyone
who's serious about Y-DNA testing ought to know who
they are already.
Well, I didn't, and in I case you don't, there is
information about them on the ISOGG Wiki:

See especially the Review by Debbie Kennett:

Yes, you are losing control of the data - in the same way
that public display (publishing) of Y-DNA STR data at the
CARRICO project means a loss of control over it. But just
as I see no harm in publishing STR data at FTDNA, I don't
see any harm in publishing Y-DNA SNP results at YFull. In
both cases, our knowledge advances to everyone's benefit.
So, bottom line, I hope the two CARRICOs who've been BigY tested will do the
upload. The CARRICOs have very rare Y-DNA STR haplotypes, which means we'll
probably have an interesting place on the Y-DNA SNP haplotree. It could/should
reveal our geographical origin, if not immediately, then eventually.

P.S. YFull isn't concerned about the actual name of the test subject; they just
look at the data. If you are the contact and you want to shield the test
subject, you can upload his data in your name.
