OBITUARY
The subject of this sketch, Mr. Jacob Redwine, deceased, was born in the state of North
Carolina, May 12th, 1819, and married to Chaney Carrick, in that state, when he was about
21 years of age. He moved to Dent county, Missouri, in 1870, settled about 7 miles north
of Salem where he lived until his death. His wife died January 27th, 1887, preceeding him
but a short time to the spirit land.
Mr. Redwine professed Christianity soon after his marriage and connected himself with the
Baptist church remaining a consistant member until his death, being a member of the church
for forty years or more.
He was taken sick with a chill which terminated in fever, and this with other
complications, ended his life rather suddenly being taken on Thursday and dieing on Sunday
morning, aged 69 years 3 months and 14 days. He left two sons and one daughter and
several grand children to weep over the departure of a kind parent; but they have this
consolation that their one died in the triumph of a living faith, and that he has gone to
enjoy the bliss of an eternal home in heaven. The many friends of the bereayed family
sorrow with them but not as those who have no hope.
Funeral services will be held at the harbor near Mr. James G. Carty’s, on the fourth
Sunday in this month.
