I am quite new at this.
My husband's great, great, great grandparents were James and Mary Ann Dawson. I have
a bit of ancestry on them both and believe they were second cousins to each other. Their
son, Rev Abraham Dawson emigrated from Ireland in 1864 along with his family (one child
died aboard the ship). They arrived in NY and then settled near Ottawa, Canada. I would
be interested in details about your branch of the family.
Via the internet, my husband connected with a third cousin (they are both great great
grandsons of the above mentioned Rev Abraham. We live thousands of km apart but are
meeting in a couple of days to 'look' at family trees.
One of Abraham's sons, George Walker Wesley Dawson was a member of Parliament for our
federal government from 1891-1896.
One of James and Mary Ann's sons, Thomas, went to Australia in 1941. He and his wife,
Ellen Doran, sailed on the James Moran which arrived in Botony Bay on Oct 6, 1941. I can
not find further information on them.
I need to browse through your input.
