<Hope you have info regarding them.>
[wince] Wish I did. I have nothing directly applicable as far as I can see. There are
probably connections back at the coast, but that doesn't help much here.
There were early Carricks who headed south, and then later headed west. There were early
Carricks who headed west, and then southwest. Mine headed into NC, and later to southern
counties of MO [Webster, Douglas, Wright, Greene, etc.] And there is a Joseph there that
is close to the age of yours. But he could easily be a son or cousin that I have not
identified yet. But I have no information about Carricks farther north in MO.
On the other hand, I have frequently run across Carricks in Ohio, Michigan,
Pennsylvania.... And I haven't paid much attention, since I would have no clue as to
who's who. I will keep an eye out for your Joseph and Benjamin.
There may even still be a closer connection. Just depends.
Many from west NC moved to IN in the early to mid 1800s. Some moved to adjoining areas of
IL and OH. If your Carrick guys are from [generally] southwest OH, that's one set of
possibilities. If your Carricks were from northern or eastern OH, then the odds are
**high** that they were from the more northern route.
Either way, we probably connect somewhere shortly after their foreparents stepped off the
boats <grins>.
I spend a fair amount of time in northern OH, southeast MI, PA, etc. Now I have a reason
to pay a bit of attention to Carricks there <grins>.
If you have an idea of what part of OH they were from, let me know.
Good hunting,
Linda
