Hello,
I just came across this message today, a bit slow I know, but it seems to me
that I come across this family often enough to believe there may be a
connection with my Carricks.
Thomas Carrick was born c.1785 in or around Cloncore, Parish of Tartaraghan,
County Armagh and he married Ann Gillespie of the same area. They had at
least two children and those children emigrated to Sydney in 1852 and 1856
respectively. Perhaps your James Todd Carrick and my Thomas Carrick were
brothers or cousins.
I have been in touch with people in the Cloncore/Portadown area who are
researching the Carrick and Matchett names and they believe that all the
Carricks from that area were related at some time and we are slowly working
backwards to find the links.
Have you any details of siblings etc of James Todd Carrick ?

James Todd Carrick born 1799, married Isabella Robinson (born 1809), lived
in Armagh, Northern Ireland. Children: David c1830, William c1830, James
c1831, Sophia c1837, Benjamin c1841, Jane Todd c1841, Charles Todd c1843,
and Richard 1848. The family arrived in South Australia in 1847, settling
in the Noarlunga district south of Adelaide. James Todd Carrick died in
1852, his wife and sons carrying on his publican work.
Isabella was the daughter of Richard Robinson and Sophia Ruddle Todd. I
know nothing of James' origins.
Would like to hear from anyone who might have info on the family in
Ireland.
