Hi - I just read your e-mail re: John Carrick. My Carrick family are
decendents of John Carrick and I have a pretty extensive family history on
this family. Ironically, I've never been able to find much information
prior to John, Sr. My gggrandfather was Elijah Carrick. Elijah and his
families ended up in Guthrie County, Iowa. My dad always said that this
lineage of Carricks were from Scotland but that's about as good as it has
gotten as far ascertaining exactly where in Scotland! John Carrick, Sr.
immigrated to Maryland. I would be more than happy share with you what I
have.

Message Board Post:
I'm searching for anyone with information on John Carrick born around
1840/41. It's uncertain whether he was born in Ireland or Scotland as both
locations were recorded on his 1881/91 and 1901 census returns. His
father's name was also John Carrick, and his mother Jane was from
Scotland, born around 1810. They were coalminers.
John married a Roseanna Sawey in 1879 County Durham and had the children
Thomas, Jane and William. Thomas, born 1879 Washington, was my great
grandfather. The family lived in Heworth for many years.
If anyone recognises these people, can provide further info, or is a
descendent, I would love to hear from you.... :)
