I guess my answer would have to be a maybe. On one hand there were lots of people from
the Knox Co. TN area that used the name Carrick for their children who appear to be
completely unrelated, maybe they just used the name after Samuel Carrick because he was
the minister.
On the other hand there is some link between this Carrick family and some branch of the
Campbell's. Samuel Carrick's son from his second wife, Annis McClelland, named
William Carrick was named assee of the heirs of Col. Richard Campell's pension. Col.
Campbell was killed at the Battle of Eutaw Springs in the Revolutionary War. The
documents that I have don't explain why he (and later his heirs) have a claim to this
pension. William Carrick died about 1836 in Jackson Co. Mo which is near Atchison Co. KS
and Platte CO. MO. I think the connection with the Campbell's comes through his
mother, Annis McClelland, because William's half brother and sister's laid claim
to this pension through William. The records say the William Carrick died instate without
any other heirs ( no living children). I have no record of any marriage for him, but I
suppose it is possible and she may have died. One other thing, Samuel Carrick has cousins
who repeatedly used the name Montgomery as mi!
ddle names. They mostly live in White Co. TN but did live in KY before coming to TN.
I'll double check what I have on that Campbell and also the KY/White Co. TN Carricks
and check for any Sarah's, but it may take awhile since I just got back from
vacation.
