Hi Kay,
I posted this under our original thread, wasn't sure if you saw it. Let me know if I
can be of more help or if you do find a connection. Thanks.
Elona and Kay,
I rechecked my records and didn't find a Sarah that fit your time period. But the
records that I have, are far from complete, espescially with female lines.
The Carrick line that goes through KY and into White Co, TN seem to come from two
brothers: James Carrick and Moses Carrick. They are my Samuel's brothers. James dies
in Caldwell Co. KY abt. 1817, his wife's name is Margaret. Their known children are
John, Stephenson, Samuel, James b. abt 1760, d. 10 Sept.1812 Caldwell KY ( he has children
John and James), and Dolly Price. One of the James moved to TN.
Moses is b. abt. 1750 in York/Adams Co. PA and d. Sparta, White Co. TN. His wife is Susan
Lawson. His son is John "Montgomery" Carrick b. 1775 d. 5 Jan. 1811 White Co. TN
(he lived in Barren Co. KY and also in Jackson and Greene Co. TN). John Montgomery and his
wife Elizabeth Vance had Moses M. b. abt 1798, Samuel Vance b. abt May 17,1800 in KY, John
Addison b. 25 dec 1801 KY, Seth Lawson b. 11 Nov 1806, James Montgomery b. abt. 1808,
White Co. TN, Hugh Lawson b. 19 Jan 1810, Sarah L. b. abt 1812.
Since this is a collateral line for me, I haven't personally researched this info.
Much of what I have comes from Gil Carrick who descends from this line. Obviously, there a
probably several missing children and perhaps your Sarah could be one of them.
As for the Col. Richard Campbell possibility: Lt. Col. Richard Campbell had Archibald,
Joseph, John, Richard, and Jonathan as sons. His wife was the daughter of John Sevier and
sister of George Sevier. Richard d. abt. 1800 leaving one son George W. in Water Co. TN,
Joseph d. 1798 instate and unmarried or married Jane Vance and had one or two daughters,
Archibald d. before Joseph, unmarried and instate, Jonathan entered the army, left with
his wife, Margaret Kidd and was never heard of again and insane, John d. 1830s with
children.
Joseph's daughters married a Ritter and a Mealy and their children were orphaned.
Rebecca Ritter and Mary Mealy were two of these children and William Carrick (son of
Samuel Carrick) was their assignee. I think that the Sevier family had connections with
the McClelland family (William's mother was Annis McClelland). I do have a several
page summary of this case from VIRGINIA SOLDIERS OF 1776, and could e-mail to you if you
think this could be your line.
Sorry I didn't have any easy answers but maybe just some clues to help you get
started. Our Carrick line used Addison repeatedly so maybe there is a connection. Let me
know what you find. Good luck.
