This is a rather old message, but I'm going to post a reply to it any how.
It's actually Flint Road, and at one time Carricks and their Decendents Owned most of
the road, and the ajoining roads. The Farm house is still there (but as I posted a few
years ago, the north field is now a golf course). The last piece that was still owned by
a Carrick Decendent was sold about 2 years ago (a small Cabin, that Flora Mae
'Carrick' & Charles E. Phillips owned. Their Son Wilburn Lived in it last,
and upon his death, my Mother (Diane Doherty) sold it.
Porterfield (AKA Corbin Porterfield) Was Flora's Brother. I think Flora & Her
Husband Charles E. Phillips Bought 4 40's (160 Acres) from Nate in about 1909 for the
ripe sum of $440, payable over 10 years. Wilburn bought it from then in the 50's,
when they moved to the smaller cabin (This farm was on Lansing Road, and was a dead end,
except for the trail that went to Uncle Nate's... Ironicly, My grand mother is a
decendent of Alonzo Carrick, Another Brother of Issac, and she remembered walking the
trail to Uncle Nate & I think aunt Mertly). Olive Vany (Daughter of Esther Carrick,
who's father was the above mentioned Alonzo) Also owned 20 acres (I think) on Lansing
Road, that now belongs to her son Robert Borland. They are the last Carricks to own any
of this property, that used to toal well over 300 acres by my calculation. If anyone else
has more information, or needs more on this line, please let me know.
