Hi
can anyone out there connect to this family, James was a seaman aboard the Swansea
registered ship the Caswell in 1876, my GG Grandfather was the captain. There was a mutiny
and the captain and three other members of the crew were killed. James and a few others
managed to gain control of the ship, and sail her home from South America. It was big news
back then and made the National press, there was a court case in Queenstown, Ireland,
followed by two hangings. I have all the newspaper reports and a lot of other information.
I have already made contact with the descendants of both the First Mate and the Carpenter,
I would love to be able to pass on the info that I have to any descendants of James, as he
played a key part in returning the ship back to home waters to see that justice was done.
