My great-grandfather was Carlice (Calice) Carrere born in abt 1850 (a slave)in Plaquemines
Parish, LA. He lived in Grand Prairie Town. He was a farmer.
He was married to Lydia Branch (b. abt 1855 of black and indian descent[blackfoot,
cherokee ]) who was a nurse and midwife. Her folks William and Harriet Branch were slaves
from North Carolina. There were approximately seven children in all. I can only list
three (William, Anthony, Lydia). A sister was sold to traders and sent to Eutaw Alabama.
Carlice and Lydia Branch Carrere's children were Villere Carrere, Acklin Carrere,
Evelina Carrere Edgerson, Carlice Carrere,Izama Carrere Young, and Uklet Carrere. There
were a lot of Carrere's in the area of Plaquemines Parish and Orleans Parish who are
related to my family (white and black).
I've been researching my ancestry for awhile now and have a few gaps that I need to
close. Any information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
