Hi KG,
There were many in SC who spelled the surname as Carrell around 1800.
Just north of the line in Sampson County, NC all 10 families were
Carrol in the 1790 census and all were Carrell in the 1800 census. In
one court record you might see one of them listed as Carell or next
time as Caroll. It seems most of these now use the name Carroll.
So, I would suggest that you include all possible spellings in your
search. Some of your relatives may not know the name was ever listed
as Carrell, and may be looking for relatives of Joseph Carroll.
