Pat,
Susannah Carr, (surname Meekins has never been proved), widow of
Gideon Carr, died sometime between 1794 and 1803.
Susannah Carr, widow of Gideon, was still alive as of February 1794.
In the "Albemarle County Road Orders 1783-1816", I found the
following entries pertaining to Gideon's family and neighbors:
15 Jun 1792, Order Book 1791-93, p 175. John Carr is appointed
surveyor of the road from halls Creek to a small Creek above John Keys
upper plantation with the folowing male labouring tythes, David Wood,
Henry Foster, Claiborne Rothwell, John Robertson, John Sandridge,
Elizabeth Sandridge, SUSANNAH CARR, Meekins Carr, Micajah Carr, Joel
Foster, Thomas Rothwell, and John Key. The small branch above John
Keys upper plantation to use Thomas Carr, Gideon Carr, Benjamin
Thurmond.. . . .
13 Feb 1794, Order Book 1793-95, p 14. Drury Wood apptd surveyor of
the road in room of John Carr with the following male labouring
tythables to keep the same in repair to wit: Drury Wood, Henry Foster,
Claiborne Rothwell, John Robertson, John Sandridge, Elizabeth
Sandridge's, SUSANNAH CARR'S, Meekins Carr, Micajah Carr, Joel Foster,
Thomas Rothwell, and John Key.
Then, in Albemarle Co, VA Deed Book 14, I found the following deed
which suggests that Susannah had died for all the children are selling
their interest to their brother Meekins.
2 Dec 1803. Deed Bk 14, p. 428. Micajah Carr, John Carr, Gideon Carr
Junior, Thomas Carr, Benjamin Thurmond, Thomas Travillion and John
Fitch of Albermarle Co to Meekins Carr . . . for 280 pounds . . . 165
ac bounded by David Wood, John Sandidge, Micajah Carr and John Carr.
Wit: John Sandidge, John Robertson, John Rothwell. Rec 6 Feb 1804.
Hope this helps--
