Interestingly, my Catharine Carr (b 1800 in VA), daughter of Michael Carr,
married Robert Wigle and named their first son Archibald (who was born 1819
in Union Co., OH). Their second son, Corban, moved his family to Butler
Co., Iowa. I wonder if your Archibald might be my Catharine's brother.
I enjoyed your comment about Genealogists Anonymous!

Jeff & CARR-L,
Scott Alexander is at work, I imagine...
I am his sister and partner in genie-crimes, Diane Elizabeth (Hendricks)
Parish. We are from Alton, IL. And I promised myself I wouldn't work
on geneology on Christmas Eve, but Scott had to go bringing up
Christian! Is there a G/A or genie-anonymous program out there, I'm
terribly afflicted?!
Our Archibald Carr was born in 1807 in Belmont, OH and died in 1865. He
married Sep. 1, 1829 in Belmont, OH to Elizabeth McElroy born 1811
Belmont, OH.
In our grandfather's family papers, which had many small errors, there
was listed as the spouse for Elizabeth McElroy, Christian Carr. So for
weeks when I first began my Carr genie research I was looking all over
for Christian, only to find out later there was no Christian, that it
was actually Archibald Carr who moved with Elizabeth to Farmington,
Iowa. Archibald and Elizabeth are both buried there. This was
confirmed by another distant Carr cousin & researcher from South Dakota,
were some of our Carr's ended up.
But I haven't forgotten about Christian. The name wouldn't have been in
the family papers if it didn't belong to somebody...maybe they missed a
generation....maybe Christian was Archibald's father??
Christian(Archibald) and Elizabeth supposedly migrated from Pennsylvania
to Iowa. Also, the story is that our Carr that came across the water
was from Ireland. We haven't found any Christian's yet amongst our Carr
descendants, so we must keep an open mind. We are on the hunt for our
Archibald's father, whoever he may be. And the "story" also says that
Archibald's father left the family and went "down river". Sigh. We
kinda have to work the PA & Christian angle till we wear it out or prove
it wrong.
Merry Christmas Eve
Carr Cousins!
Diane Elizabeth
