Williamsburg, VA, item of 18 Apr. gives news of the following persons
tried: Low Jackson of Nansemond CO has been found guilty of counterfeiting;
John Hill (alias Seale) from Southampton CO has been convicted of horse
sealing; John Markham from Northumberland has been found guilty of stealing
tobacco and John Boah of receiving it; John Birk from King George has been
convicted of stealing tobacco and John Ashwell from Essex of stealing wigs;
Thomas Smith from Northumberland was convicted of the manslaughter of
Robert Knowles; Wm. Maniffee from Spotsylvania was indicted for
manslaughter and Thomas Alley from york for felony but both were acquitted;
the trial of Samuel Carr from Nansemond (VA) for the murder of Samuel
Milner is continued to Oct.
