Pat,
I saw your Family Tree Maker home page. Your index shows Rachel Carr,
born abt 1749, being married to Charles McKinnis. I am wondering if
have any more information on that particular Carr? I unfortunately have
none and interested in anything I can find out. Thank you.

so in PA and then moved to Jackson Co., Ohio where they raised their family.

Dear Pat,
In your Carr research have you ever run across a Rachel Carr, born about 1749,
died 1814, and married about 1772 to Charles McKinnis in Butler County, Penn?
They moved to Jackson Co., Ohio soon after marriage. If you know anything
about her, please e-mail me at JSWARIES(a)aol.com.
Thanks, Sally Williams
I sent reply, saying Rachel might be identical with Rachel Carr, born about
1743, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Cross) Carr. I also sent a note to
Lemken (Ken Lemmon) as follows:
See attached request for info. She might have your Rachel Carr, daughter of
John and Elizabeth (Cross) Carr! I sent her copies of your correspondence to
me.
Let me know if things turn out!! :)
Pat

Dear Pat,
Thanks for the checking on Carrs and Charles McKinnis you did for me. I was
wondering if you had run across any more information on a Rachel Carr. I have
Ken Lemken's list of descendants of John Carr and Eliz. Cross--that Rachel
married Isaac White, but I wonder if she may have remarried my Charles if
something happened to Isaac. This happened in another case thaat we were
researching and I never thought of it! If Isaac died soon after they were
married, it's a possibility. In the 1790 PA census I also saw David Carr,
Walter Carr, John Carr, and several Kerrs that had females in the family.
Rachel would have already been married by then (we think 1772) but they could
be sisters or mother.
Let me know if you find anything.
Thanks Sally Williams JSWARIES(a)aol.com

I've been searching in vain for quite some time, and I'm hoping someone
can help me. I have a Rachel Carr who married Charles McKinnis in 1772,
when Charles was 50 years old. She may have been born in Butler Co., PA
where she and Charles settled, but she could have been from almost
anywhere, because Charles fought in the French and Indian War, and
travelled all over, and could have met her on his various travels. We do
know that she died in 1814, and is buried next to Charles in Butler
Cemetery, Butler, PA, with a gray tombstone.
I'm hoping that someone has a Rachel from this time period who could
possibly be this Rachel. The spelling of Carr could possibly be any
variation. The other possibility is that she could have been a widow of
a Carr when she married Charles, although she would have to be fairly
young since she and Charles had nine children. Also, the spelling of
McKinnis has turned up as McGinnis, McInnis, and many other ways.
If anyone has any clues at all for me I would greatly appreciate it.
Josie Adams

Hi Pat,
Thanks for you response on Rachel Carr. Why do you think this one is the
same one that married Charles McKinnis? Do you have any more data? By
the way, Sally Williams is my sister! The Rachel that Ken Lemmon has was
married to someone else, and apparently he doesn't have anything about
her remarrying. Do you? This has been a real mystery for us, and so far
nothing concrete has turned up.
Thanks, Josie Adams
