I'm pretty new to this list and so far I haven't seen anyone's line that I
knew we conect with, so I thought that I would send mine in. I don't have a
lot though.
CARR, William b: unknown d: prob before 1881 (wife remarried that year)
...+ DENSMORE, Elizabeth b:Aug 24, 1854 in Cartright, Ontario d: Sept 13,
1925 in Winnipeg, Manitoba They had at least 2 children:
1. William Bartholomew CARR b: April 11, 1873 in Ontario (maybe North Bay)
d: 1945 m: Jan 4, 1895 to Margaret Elizabeth SHEFFER (who was his cousin) b:
1873 in Ontario (maybe North Bay) d: 1952 in Decatur, IL They had only one
child who was Beatrice Lida CARR b: July 1896 in WI
2. Dorina CARR b:March 1880 in New Lowell, Ontario
William CARR (that died about 1880) is the furthest back we can get. It is
thought that his parents may have come from Ireland and that he was Scotch-
Irish. Is this at all likely? I'm pretty much just starting this line and am
in the dark basically.
Thanks,
Susan O<<

The Scotch-Irish roots in Ontario doesn't seem far fetched; have seen this
before. (See below)
Didn't find anything in my database on your particular line, though. But I
checked a few names at Family Treemaker Online. You might have some luck on
Eliz Densmore at FTM; a number of Canada hits on the name. Found a series of
Wm B Carrs, but no Wm Bartholomew's and no hits for Canada (one marriages
US/Intl a possibility).

Your Carr family line appears likely to be related to mine, but exactly how is
not clear.
I am searching for any information on James Carr, also born in Galway Ireland,
estimated between 1797 and 1805, who immigrated in either 1847 or 1853 with
his wife (Mary Welsh) and 7 children, to settle on a family farm just outside
of Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
James is said to have immigrated with 2 brothers also, one who may have gone
on to western Canada, one who is believed to have gone on to settle in Indiana
or Illinois.
We do not yet know James's mother or father or family. We would also like to
find some trace of his brothers (first names unconfirmed but obviously Carr's!
) who immigrated with him but settled elsewhere.
Looking and eager...

Subject: Joseph Carr born in Galway 1853
I'm trying to locate the ancestors of:
Joseph Carr Sr born in 1853 in Galway, Ireland (he died in
1924 in SF, CA). Joseph married Mary Mahoney (who was also born in
Ireland). At least one child was born to this union, Joseph Edward Carr
(Jr) in 1881 in SF, CA.
Does this connect to the Carr line you're researching?
Thanks,
Diane
