Some one on the Virginia roots newslist brought this scam to my
attention. Several people researching their roots have been burned
by it so please beware.

Just want y'all to be aware of a scam that came to all of us. I was
probably the only fish that "bit"! There is a J Rigdon who came on
and said he had some genealogy papers lying around and gave the
surnames involved. One of them was Perry. I told him I wanted the
Perry things.
Well, what I received for the $3.00 I agreed to send was COPIES of a
bunch of on-line queries, etc. Nothing was documented and there were
very few of those bulletin board notes that had any information at
all. Mostly queries and many of those involving Perrys in the
twentieth century!
The value of what I received sits in my printer, face down, to be
used for misc. printing jobs.
J Rigdon, from what it appears, is not an individual on this list as
represented. Rather, he is a salesman for Eastern Digital Resources
in N. Augusta, S.C. and apparently he's here to push his worthless
wares.
Please be warned. I don't want anyone else to fall into the same
trap as I did. I know it's only $3.00, but if 100 of us bit, this
guy made $300 for his posting!
